Ditch Resolutions and Create your Intentions
There’s an energy in the air – that “new year, new me” buzz that fills social media feeds and casual conversations. And while New Year’s resolutions seem like the perfect way to hit the ground running, let’s be honest... how many of those promises have fizzled out by February?
Here’s the thing – resolutions are often reactive. They stem from guilt, dissatisfaction, or fleeting motivation. But intentions? Intentions come from a deeper place of alignment, clarity, and purpose. When you set an intention, you’re not just listing things you “should” do – you’re envisioning the life you want to create. And that’s powerful.
The Problem with Resolutions
Resolutions tend to be rigid, narrow, and focused on fixing things.
- "I will lose 20 pounds."
- "I’ll stop procrastinating."
- "I’m going to work harder."
These are great in theory but can quickly lead to burnout or frustration. Why? Because they focus on the result, not the journey.
Intentions, however, shift the focus to the process and who you are becoming along the way.
What Does It Mean to Set Intentions?
Setting intentions is about getting clear on how you want to feel, how you want to show up, and what you want to attract in your personal and professional life. It’s not just about checking off a list – it’s about transformation.
For example:
- Instead of "I will lose weight," try: I will nourish and honor my body with movement and healthy food.
- Instead of “I need to work harder at my business," say: I will show up fully and consistently, believing in my growth.*
Do you feel the difference? Intentions keep you rooted in the present, yet forward-focused.
Envisioning 2025 – Crafting Your Blueprint
To truly transform 2025, start by envisioning the year you want. It’s not too late! I encourage you to carve out some time, grab a journal, light a candle, and ask yourself:
- What do I want to feel in 2025?
- Who do I want to become?
- What areas of my personal and professional life need the most growth?
- Where do I desire more ease and joy?
Now let’s turn those reflections into actionable intentions. Think of intentions as guiding principles rather than strict rules..
Bringing Your Intentions to Life
Here’s the fun part – creating a roadmap to bring your intentions to life! Break down each intention into small, manageable steps.
For example:
- Intention: Cultivate meaningful connections.
Action:Attend one networking event each month, reach out to mentors, and engage with my online community weekly.
By attaching actions to your intentions, you create a bridge between vision and reality.
Reflect and Realign
Unlike resolutions that can feel like failures if broken, intentions invite ongoing reflection. Each month, revisit your intentions. Ask yourself:
- Am I honoring this intention?
- What shifts do I need to make?
- Is this intention still aligned with my goals?
Growth isn’t linear – it’s cyclical. By staying flexible and kind to yourself, you’ll naturally stay aligned with your bigger vision.
Here are a few of our 2025 Intentions:
-We will stay focused, passionate, and consistent with our businesses.
-We will follow joy, and turn away from fear and worry.
-We will take care of our bodies, spirits, and minds as a first priority.
-We will focus on helping and encouraging those around us.
-We will chase adventures and live 2025 to the fullest.
-We will turn off all outside noise that doesn't align with who we are, our goals, our authenticity, and who we want to grow to be.
Here’s to 2025 – the year you align, grow, and create with intention. Let’s make it unforgettable.
